Daily Check-In, Tuesday, March 31

I began my part-time evening job today...I work at a local ballpark as a group host during homestands. It was opening night at the park, and there was a good crowd there. But let me tell you...the smells of hotdogs, pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, fried dough...considering I am on day 2 of a 3-day fast, it was a little overwhelming. I didn't experience any hunger pains today at all - until I arrived at the park.

I may have picked the wrong time to attempt a month of strict carnivore because, being at this park several nights in a row for 2 homestands this month is going to add to the difficulty of completing this month as strick carnivore. Nevertheless, I'll be tried, and I plan to concur!

I started a 3-day fast to undo the mess I made while in PA last week! I suppose technically, it's a 2 day fast, but I'm planning not to eat solid food on Wednesday - instead, having beef broth. So, I feel comfortable calling it a 3-day fast.

I was over my 3-hour social media limit by only 1 minute...but I know I can do better. I'd like to whittle that down to less than 2 hour, and eventually less than 1 hour.

While I keep posting I've made progress on the podcast, I'm failing at the most important part - that of recording and posting! I have all my scripts prepared...but I'm 7 episodes behind with recording, editing and posting! I'll work on getting caught up this weekend.

Overall, feeling good.

Okay, so today was the first of a short vacation to Lancaster, PA. I went with friends to see a new show that premiered at the Sight & Sound Theater there. As such, I purposely took a break from my eating plan and, reluctantly, ordered and consumed menu items I shouldn't have - and I felt it! I'm telling you, bloat and nausea quickly followed almost every meal I had. I'd say I'm switching back to Carnivore/Keto tomorrow, but I know I won't. I'll readdress my eating plan when I get home.

Well, today was a good day! I'm currently reading the book of Joshua in the bible and, coincidentally, I'm also going to see the show "Joshua" at the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA! How exciting, and how convenient that my bible reading coincides with the viewing of this show!

Speaking of traveling, I can't promise myself I'll eat clean carnivore this weekend, but I can promise myself I won't go crazy! But, while I'm away, I'll be taking a break from content creation and studying AI.

Well, I see more "yes's" today than yesterday! I finished course #3 in my AI Certification! PROGRESS!...and 13 more courses to go!

I also scripted weeks 10 and 11 for my podcast. I'm hoping to get episodes 6 and 7 edited and published tonight - but my sister is coming over to go over the ceremony for her wedding this Sunday (I'm doing the ceremony) - so that'll take up some time this evening. Either way, I'll have done some work on my podcast today.

Today was a great day! I felt really good. My energy was through the roof. I even got in a 3.5 mile walk (it helps to walk with friends - you get carried away in conversation and forget the time/effort you're putting into walking). Had a good choir practice tonight.

I began monitoring my time on social media today. I had set my goal for less than 3 hours a day - but honestly, that still feels like a lot. Thus, I'll gradually reduce that until I'm can sustain one hour or less per day. It's totally doable. I had to edit this goal because I'm realizing there are so many thing I use my phone for other than social media - and it's social media that I wanted to stop spending so much time on this year.

Tomorrow is a new day! Looking forward to this week!

Okay! As promised yesterday, I'm focused today! I had my typical "no's" for prayer and no-social Sunday. I think I'm going to modify my "no-social Sunday" to be more of a reduced phone handling time. I'll see what my average Screen Time is at the end of this week, and decide how much I want to reduce that. I already know my most used app is TikTok - I definitely need to reduce that one.

Oh...I opened a Stan Store account yesterday and have begun developing a Carnivore Accountability 14-day reset booklet/PDF. I'm going to offer that via my Carnivore TikTok channel - but I'm trying to decide on a solid price-point. More to come on that later.

Okay, here's to "getting refocused!"

So...this might be the first day I've had all "No's" on my checklist. Can't say I'm very proud of myself. Especially coming out of a 48 hour fast and I kill it by consuming a few marshmallows. I mean, there was a whole conversation going in my head ("one won't hurt", "Don't do it", "I'm making good progress, just have the sugar", "You have goals", "I'll restart tomorrow", "Just shut up and do it..."). I guess that last thought won, and I'm pretty disappointed in myself. I've been sooo good about controlling sugar cravings this year...guess I need to work on that a bit more.

I was on calls all day at work, leaving me no time to do my bible reading (I usually do it early in the morning before I get caught up in my work). And, then I went to a Carolina Hurricanes game this evening...that took up the entire evening (by the way - we won with less than 30 seconds remaining in OT!!!).

Okay, tomorrow is a new day. I'm committing to being more focused, and I'm more determined now than ever to defeat these sugar cravings!

So, yeah, I'm still struggling to talk to God. There's got to be some deep rooted anxiety I have about this...I just don't know. I'm definitely beginning to feel guilty here...nearly three months into this year and I've yet to seriously sit down and intentionally, purposefully talk with God. I mean, beside blessing my food and saying a short prayer for friends...I never truly talk with God. I've got to get to the root of this.

But, I'm caught up on my bible reading, and I did get some reading in my February book completed today. I also completed another module in class #3 of my AI certification.

Today was an okay day! Nothing terribly exciting. I did record a carnivore-ish recipe for my new Carnivore TikTok channel - Carnivore Meat Balls. Someone commented "that's anything but carnivore" just because I included less than half a teaspoon of onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning...he was just being grump! I never claimed to be strict carnivore...but, given he found it necessary to call it out, maybe, going forward, I'll state that my recipes are what they call "dirty carnivore".

They say you get the best results from doing strict carnivore; however, I'm not ready to make that full transition. I'd rate myself somewhere around a 90% carnivore...which I think it pretty awesome considering I have cut out ALL sugar and ALL forms of sugar (not accounting for the once or twice a month meal I have with friends).

Anyway, still chucking away at my AI certification, and dealing with all my other goals! Getting there!

I'm feeling really good today! I woke up feeling great! I weighed in this morning and found I'm down to 238.8 (I haven't been in the 230's in over two years!). So, that's a huge win!

I went to the track today; however, I did not walk my normal two miles. I started feeling weary during lap #3, so I walked one more lap and called it a day. Although I'm pursuing a health goal in 2026, it's equally important to listen to my body - it said pause, so I paused! I'll attempt my normal two miles again tomorrow.

I finished the book of Numbers yesterday, and today I'll begin Deuteronomy. I also got a lot of reading done in my February book yesterday, and will try to get more in tonight.

I intended to have today be a no-social day, but I promised I'd record and post a Carnivore TikTok today - a recipe for carnivore meatballs that I enjoy. So, I'll try again maybe Sunday.

Finally, I completed course #2 in my certification program yesterday and began course #3. I'm having a great week so far!!!

I'm feeling motivated today! I plan to fast again today, and I'll resume my eating plan Wednesday (I think - I might fast one more day...). Anyway, it's a beautiful day outside and I'm planning to go for another walk today - I got up to two miles yesterday. Now I'm working on 3.

I did get all my Bible reading caught up yesterday, and I'll continue on schedule today. I also plan to read at least one chapter from my February book and my March book (I selected "Shaken" by Tim Tebow for my March book). Last night, someone called me out on my addiction to my phone - so, I'm planning to have my no-social day tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/11.

I completed course #2 of 16 today in Coursera - so I'm making steady progress on my IBM Certification in Generative AI Engineering. Things are going well!

Lastly, I really need to record my podcast this evening. I'm so far behind in that.

Okay! I gotta recover from Friday and the weekend. Friday was a bust! Then I had lunch plans with a former colleague in Raleigh - we ate at one of my favorite draft houses where I had the meatloaf (not terrible, but I ate the corn and potatoes that came with it - definitely not carnivore). Then I had a plate of pasta for lunch Sunday, and a bowl of three different soups at a dinner gathering Sunday night. Oy vey...what am I doing?!?!

No excuses - that's my thing...so I'm not making any. I made some bad choices...full stop!

It's only March - I have 9 more months of accountability to put into practice, and I don't want to let myself down. Today, I'm fasting! I gotta clean all that yucky out of my system. I'll probably fast again tomorrow. And, today, I'll also get my bible reading caught up.

Well, today was a near total loss. I didn't lack motivation...no, I lacked time. My workday consumed me (which is when I usually do my bible reading), and I made the choice to watch a couple of movies instead of devoting time to studying or reading my February book. I'm getting really behind with my podcast (I have 3 to record and I need to build my week 8 script out). I need to get a grip and catch up before I get so far behind I get overwhelmed and quit!

I went for a walk today and, oh my, I must say, it felt wonderful outside! I'm totally loving this early spring weather! I hope it last 😆

Regarding my goals, I worked on most of them today. I enjoyed a 30 minute walk at the track, was faithful to carnivore today, and complete my daily Bible ready for both yesterday and today. I also completed a couple of tasks in my Coursera studies for AI and began preparing to record a few episodes of my podcast.

Overall, a great day (and a beautiful one)! I'm feeling really good!

I weight in this morning at 240.8! That's exciting! But I managed to have an almost all no's day. I failed to read my bible, or pray, or strictly follow carnivore/keto. I didn't read any of my February book, nor did I spend any time studying AI today.

Not a total loss though. I had a LOT going on at work today, then went for a walk to get some fresh air and exercise, and then had church choir practice. Sometimes life just gets in the way of goals - but it's not going to throw my off my game! I'll tackle it all again tomorrow!

It's March 2 - the first day of my 2nd restart. You see, I attempted to restart after my return from vacation; however, it did not go well. I failed at nearly every turn.

This month, I return to carnivore, will catch up my monthly book reading (finishing February's book, and completing a new book for March), will commit to observing at least 2 no-social days, and will purpose in my heart to spend time with God in prayer - something I've neglected to do, and I don't really know why.

Today, I fast! Tomorrow, I fast! Wednesday, I'll drink broth. And Thursday, I'll resume my carnivore plan.
